East Africa Overland Adventure

If you’re feeling torn between wanting an exciting inspiring adventure but also don’t want to give up your beach time, then this East Africa overland adventure is just for you. Spend time on the vast game plains of the Serengeti in search of the Big Five and then relax on the white sand beaches of Zanzibar.

This beach and bush overland adventure is 21 days through five incredible countries: Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.

  • Visit the Serengeti and the South Luangwa National Parks
  • Explore the Ngorongoro Crater
  • Discover Zanzibar Island
  • Ferry to Dar es Salaam
  • See the tea growing area of Iringa
  • See the astounding Victoria Falls
  • Cruise on Lake Malawi
  • Check out the seafood and spice markets in Stone Town

Up first on the itinerary are the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. This is one of the most densely populated large animal reserves in all of Africa. And you’ll see it all from an open 4×4. You’ll spend a few nights exploring the area and camping out under starry skies.

From there you’ll make your way through Stone Town on your way to Zanzibar where you can bliss out with two incredible days on the beach. A perfect way to unwind after such a jam packed Big Five safari. During your time in Zanzibar there are opportunities for just about every activity you can think up – you set your pace and level of fun.

In Mikumi National Park you’ll have a chance to see zebra, wildebeest, impala, elephant, and more. Once in Malawi you’ll leave the Great Rift Valley by crossing some remarkable mountain passes. Your destination here is Lake Malawi, perhaps the most beautiful freshwater lake on Earth. It’s hard to describe the colours and natural grace of this area – it’s one of those places that you have to see up close and personal. Relax on the beach, snorkel, or enjoy any number of activities during your days here.

The adventure moves on to Zambia and the South Luangwa National Park. There’s a chance you’ll see hippos near your campsite on the Luangwa River. The game drive here will almost certainly turn up more hippos – as well as leopards. Your final destination is Victoria Falls where the sky is the limit in terms of adventure activities. If you can think it, you can do it in this phenomenal setting.
