There has been an overwhelming response to the overlanding trips that have started up again in West Africa this autumn on the south bound journey from Morocco down to Ghana.

The team are preparing for their north bound routes in 2016 and although some legs of the journey from Accra in Ghana to Tangier in Morocco are fully booked there are some places still available for intrepid travellers looking to get a real off the beaten track experience.

West Africa has long attracted the most curious of travellers. With a much smaller tourism set up then neighbouring countries to the north, east and south the West African nations are incredible to explore.

Another World Adventures co-founder Larissa Clark spent two and half years living in Liberia where she worked on tourism mapping and social enterprise projects. She spent a lot of time wandering with friends and her partner in their 20 year old Nissan Patrol exploring Sierra Leone, Senegal, Guinea, Guinea Bissau and Ghana as well as a lot of Liberia.

She’s written a lot about her adventure travel experiences for travel magazines such as Wings magazine – you can see some of the adventure articles on West Africa Larissa has written here.

Larissa is also a co-founder of a movement of individuals and tour operators called Unite4WestAfrica which works to raise awareness of the many amazing qualities of this wonderful region.

West Africa Overland in 2016

West Africa is truly unspoilt by mass tourism and there couldn’t be a better time to visit the region. With colourful markets, white palm lined beaches, jungles and forests, highlands and wide, diverse and exciting scenery, unique fashion and famous musical cultures, the arts and crafts scene is respected around the world.

Most trips to West Africa would be an adventure. But at Another World Adventures we like extraordinary journeys and we spent a long time working out who the best people were to explore this region and have settled on a very adventurous bunch. The people who come together to travel on these overland journeys share a genuine love of adventure and passion for exploratory travel. The overland trips are able to get to places that are rarely, if ever, visited by travellers.

If you’d like to more info about any of the routes setting off in 2016 just ask us – otherwise follow the links to the trip pages for the first trip below. If sounds up your street we can send full details of the other routes by email.
