Akwaaba! A Map of Accra Ghana will make all visits easier
Original post: Another World Adventures
Something I’m most proud of over the past few years has been my involvement in a small team that makes visitor maps for west African cities. I’ve been working with Emerging Business Lab since early 2012 in Liberia and in late-spring this year a couple of us spent a few weeks in Ghana scoping for a map for this wonderful nation’s Capital, Accra.
Any visitor who has attempted to navigate this rapidly growing and very diverse city will know.
It na easy-o
So it was with great pleasure that we announced the launch of the first edition of our free GLO Mobile Ghana Accra Visitors Map earlier this month.
A new exciting map of Accra Ghana: Split into five detailed areas of the city the Accra Visitors Map features a great collection of nearly 100 of the best hotels, bars, restaurants, suppliers and shops as well as Government agencies, hospitals, embassies, places of worship and other essential visitor information.
The maps cover all popular areas of Ghana’s Capital, such as Central Accra, Ridge, Osu, Cantonments, Labone, Labadi, Airport Residential, Roman Ridge, Dzorwulu, East Legon, and Spintex Road.
The only map of its kind in Accra for visitors, tourists, locals, expatriates, and relocating professionals the handy pocket-sized guide comes in a free print version or a digital version suitable for laptops, smart phones and tablets. People are able to download the map before a visit to Accra and use it to plan their stay and pick out the best places and service providers.
The popular Accra Visitors Map Facebook page – which had over 1,500 fans before the map even launched – is a great source of daily news and updates on cool happenings in the city.
Ten thousand high quality and durable printed copies of the Accra Visitors Map will be distributed for free across the city in the first six months and abroad via embassies and at events. The print version of the map is fully updated every six months. A dedicated mobile App has been developed for smartphones and tablets and a free fully-downloadable PDF version is available on the website www.accravisitorsmap.com.
The Accra Visitors Map has been produced by the Emerging Business Lab who have been creating Visitor Maps in West Africa since 2011.
Something I’m really pleased about is that it was very proudly printed in Ghana. As its producers we spent several hundred hours over the past six months going virtually street to street, either by car or on foot, to verify and record information about the city to ensure its accuracy.
What’s that saying about knowing a city like the back of your hand…?
