Join a Crew Rolex Fastnet Race 2021
Original post: Another World Adventures

So look – nearly everything you find on Another World Adventures follows the rule of SLOW travel. But hey, rules are made to be broken sometimes.
So if speed is your middle name, you haven’t got a summer plan for early August sorted yet, you know how to sail and you’ve got a holiday-savings-pot to blow because you’ve not travelled for a year then I’ve got the trip for you.
The Rolex Fastnet Race.
The crew of the Volvo 65 “Sisi” (ex-VESTAS 11th Hour Racing) have 2 berths for crew to join them for the Rolex Fastnet Race 2021 this August (as of 29/6).
You’ll sail shoulder to shoulder with the Austrian Ocean Race Project’s core team, to push the boat to its limit around the iconic 695NM racecourse.
The Rolex Fastnet Race is probably the world’s most prestigious offshore yacht race and as part of the crew, you’ll be fully involved in both the preparation and racing of the yacht. There’s no paying to be “just rail meat” here. All crew members will have the chance to try every role onboard, from nav to helming to tactics to bow and – everyone’s favourite – sail trim!
Training: Join “Sisi” on the evening of Tuesday 3rd August in Southampton. As part of this training, you will complete an offshore passage of at least 300NM which will act as the qualification passage for the race.
Race Start: Solent, UK 08 August 2021
Finish: Cherbourg, France, about 12 August 2021
Starting on 8th August 2021, the race will take crews through The Needles Channel, and will follow the southern coastline of England, westward down the English Channel, before rounding Land’s End. After crossing the Celtic Sea, the race rounds the Fastnet Rock off the southwest coast of Ireland. Returning to the new host finish port of Cherbourg, with around 695NM of some of the most exciting offshore yacht racing there is.
At £5150 per person to take part far from pocket change but if you know the race you’ll know it’s worth it and the chance to join a legendary yacht of this calibre is extremely rare. Here’s a 30 second teaser video from #RolexFastnetRace
The Fastnet has got to be on every sailor’s bucket list as a serious challenge for your inshore and offshore skills as you battle it out for line honours.
See – when we break the rules we really go for it.
