Tori’s trip pick of the week: Ride Across the Andes
Original post: Another World Adventures
It’s been said that “in riding a horse, we borrow freedom” and freedom you shall have in bucket loads if you saddle up on one of the most exciting adventures we’ve come across in the wilds of South America’s Patagonia. Horse riding across the Andes between Chile and Argentina is an experience that is hard to beat.
Whether you choose to do the 8 day or longer Coast to Coast 14 day ride you’ll become one with your four legged steed as you travel through a remote area of northern Patagonia along old smugglers routes, criss-crossing rivers, skirting around brilliant blue lakes, riding through ancient forests. Lay your head to rest in farmhouses, pioneer’s homes and remote cottages along the way.
And if you ever get tired in the saddle there are plenty of stops to fish or swim in the crystal clear waters that await your visit. There are fixed group departures confirmed to go for the end of 2013 and into 2014 or you can have a private departure with 2 or more people – so, get a group of friends together and head off into the wind for the ultimate journey together.
Travel Nov – March.
“We had a wonderful, fantastic trip! Our group loved every bit of it …The scenery is incredible, horses so well behaved and surefooted, farmstays warm friendly and great food! … Culturally I felt that we observed a peaceful way of life for the mountain people.” Leelee.
