To celebrate the 29 days of February for this 2016 leap year, the Adventure365 blog turns to adventures over 29 days long.

Take some real time out and explore by land or sea on a great travel adventure. Whether you opt to travel by train, road or under sail you’ll be sure to really escape the humdrum of regular life and have an experience of a lifetime. Some of our greatest moments of inspiration have come when we walked away from everyday life for a good amount of time and we think that a month is a good place to start.

Below are four exceptional adventures over a month long which you can join whether you’re travelling solo, with a friend or if you’re able to convince a group of mates to pack their bags with you! Longer journeys like this, particularly if you travel solo, are heavy going on the planning and preparation. That is unless you’re happy to wing it and risk missing festivals, sitting at closed bus stops and finding there’s no rooms at the inn late at night. In the case of the ocean sailing, unless you have a load of experience and your own yacht you simply can’t recreate this trip yourself so getting involved in a small group and joining them for the ride is the perfect way to go.

All of these adventures over a month long are perfect whether you have a lot of experience or none at all (the sailing one too!). You’ll cross borders, see unforgettable sights, wander deep into the wilderness, have a digital detox and make great friends along the way.
