About Intrepid
Intrepid travel adventure trips put the locals at the centre of the experience to make sure that you have the most authentic and interesting time in a location. They understand that as well as the best local haunts and the best stories being held in the minds of the local guides, that travel should give back to the local economies and communities. They create local jobs and provide additional support in their destinations through the Intrepid Foundation.
Intrepid trips are popular with solo travellers who want to get off the beaten track as part of a like-minded group, but they also suit couples and friends travelling together.
Why we love Intrepid
Another World Adventure Founder Larissa Clark says:
“Since my early twenties, particularly when I was living in North London I loved going to the Intrepid travel shop to learn about incredible travel experiences. It was amazing to be able to walk into an environment that captured the spirit of how I wanted to experience travel.”
“I always have a place in my heart for travel companies that are started by two friends (hey, Another World Adventures was too!). They wanted to use travel as a way to benefit the communities they visited, while also enabling people to have extraordinary experiences, which fits perfectly with our values and what we want to offer our travellers.”
We’ve been working with Intrepid since 2013. One of the reasons we chose them is because Intrepid has found a way to offer interesting, genuine, authentic experiences with more regular departures than many of our very small operators. This really ties in to the Another World Adventure philosophy of making adventure travel accessible and means we can get more people on their dream trips.”
Working with operators that do more good
“We are also passionate about working with companies that are doing good in the travel space,” Larissa explains. “I absolutely love how Intrepid have a very strong local leader ethos and that they spend their money in the country. They have put sustainability and responsible travel high on the agenda, which is really important to us.
They also have the Intrepid Foundation, which works closely with local communities to support and develop the industry in the countries they work in. I am particularly moved that they are the type of travel company that doesn’t just turn their back on a place going through hard times, because the place to them is actually the people who brought it to life for their travellers. After the Nepal Earthquake in 2015, they poured a lot of energy, love and support into the region. In the Australian Bushfire Appeal, they raised $690,000. They’ve got some great stuff that they are doing in Myanmar, too.”
