Race ARC Transatlantic Sail 2026

Duration: 15 days
View Dates

Race the Atlantic. No shortcuts. No autopilot. Just you, the crew, and a Volvo 60 pushing hard for Saint Lucia.

Step aboard one of the most exhilarating ocean racing yachts ever built and take your place on the start line of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers—this time in the racing division.

This Volvo 60 is a true offshore thoroughbred: powerful, stripped-back, and designed for speed rather than comfort. With a carbon rig, full-batten mainsail and a serious sail wardrobe, this is sailing at its most raw and rewarding.

Racing from Las Palmas to Saint Lucia (approx. 2,800 nautical miles), you’ll be part of a fully participative Corinthian crew, working alongside professional sailors to push the boat hard across the Atlantic. Life on board runs on a three-watch system, with constant trimming, helming and decision-making—no autopilot, no shortcuts. Expect around 15 days at sea, though conditions and performance will shape the passage.

This is more than a crossing—it’s a race, a test of resilience, and a rare chance to experience offshore competition from the inside.

Demanding, immersive, and unforgettable.

Accommodation

Life on board these Challenge 67 yachts is designed for real offshore sailing—robust, practical and built to handle long passages in all conditions. Originally created for the BT Global Challenge, these 21m monohulls prioritise safety, teamwork and functionality over luxury, offering a true expedition-style living experience at sea.

Accommodation is arranged across a mix of shared cabins with double and triple bunks, sleeping up to 10 guests. Expect a sociable, close-quarters environment where space is used efficiently and everyone plays a part in daily life. There are two shared bathrooms with toilets and showers, and a central saloon that doubles as a dining, briefing and relaxation space.

The galley is fully equipped for offshore cooking, with meals prepared and shared as part of the onboard routine. This is hands-on living—think sea berths, personal kit stowed securely, and the rhythm of watch systems shaping each day.

While not about indulgence, the size and strength of the vessel offer reassurance and comfort offshore, making it an ideal platform for learning, building confidence, and experiencing life on a serious bluewater yacht.

Who is this trip for?

This is a hands-on ocean crossing for those ready to step beyond coastal sailing and into true offshore passage-making. Previous sailing experience is essential—you should already be comfortable on the water, understand the basics of sail handling, and have spent time aboard a yacht in a range of conditions.

It’s well suited to sailors looking to build serious miles, gain offshore confidence, and experience life on a large, capable ocean yacht. You’ll be part of a working crew from day one—standing watch, helming, trimming sails, navigating, cooking and maintaining the boat as part of a shared routine.

Expect long days, night watches, and changing conditions—from cold, testing weather early on to warmer trade wind sailing later in the voyage. This is not a passive experience. It’s for those who are motivated, resilient, and ready to contribute fully to the team.

If you’re looking to deepen your sailing skills and take on a defining bluewater challenge, this is exactly that.
