Another World Adventures

Transatlantic Eastbound Sail Antigua – UK 2024

Duration: 33 days
View Dates

This trip offers our crew members the opportunity to fulfil a life long dream to cross the Atlantic eastbound.

The trip will also give you the opportunity to visit the beautiful Azores. From there, you can disembark, or you can stay with the crew to return their fleet to Hamble, England.

Atlantic crossings are at the heart of Another World Adventures – one was the catalyst for our founding! So we recognise that for anyone who undertakes this exciting voyage it’s an opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream.  Like all off shore sailing, an Atlantic crossing can be the most wonderful of champagne sailing or a challenge to overcome as a team, embracing a whole lot of fun along the way.

What to expect

  • Professional Instruction – the Skippers are experienced instructors that make every crew member feel welcome and tailor their delivery to the experience and style of the crew
  • Competitive boat – Although the taking part is often fun, this crew believe the full experience comes from pushing ourselves to the max and competing with other boats on the water with a view to win
  • High safety standards – Maintaining and equipping a yacht to a high standard is not an easy task. No expense is spared in ensuring the best equipment is selected and repairs are undertaken quickly and proficiently.
  • No Passengers – If you’re looking for a site-seeing adventure we can help find something more suitable. This is a hands-on sailing regatta so you can expect to be actively involved in sailing the boat, there isn’t any rail meat on our boats 🙂
  • Availability: 7th May – 12th June 2024

Boat – two boats will enter the ARC so you can discuss with the skipper your preference

  • A 2008 racing-ready Beneteau First 40.7; a racer that embodies all the aspects of a racing pedigree, with the added provisions of comfort in mind. Whether you’re a novice, or an experienced competitor this boat can put a smile on your face.
  • A 2007 Harmony 52, only 20 of these boats were ever made, they are light spacious, and extremely stable, making them ideal for crossing oceans and offshore sailing.  We have invested a huge amount of time and effort in upgrading our vessels to meet the highest of safety standards and be as competitive as possible.

Accommodation

Two sailboats will be heading back to the UK

A 2008 racing-ready Beneteau First 40.7; a racer that embodies all the aspects of a racing pedigree, with the added provisions of comfort in mind. Whether you’re a novice, or an experienced competitor this boat can put a smile on your face.

A 2007 Harmony 52, only 20 of these boats were ever made, they are light spacious, and extremely stable, making them ideal for crossing oceans and offshore sailing.  We have invested a huge amount of time and effort in upgrading our vessels to meet the highest of safety standards and be as competitive as possible.

Tour operator

The motivation behind this operator was making access to sail racing more accessible. When the founder wanted to progress from competing in dinghies to moving to bigger boats it became apparent that this could be a hard transition without knowing the right people who already owned yachts... so he charter a boat, found like minded people and divided the cost between those onboard. It's a model that works and since then they've brought crews together around the world to take part in sailing races and ocean crossings. Expect to find a motely crew on board from GAP year students to seasoned sailors in their 70's with lots of nationalities thrown into the mix. Just how we like it!
