Get ready for bucket list sailing and sights in the Scottish Hebrides.
Set sail from Oban, gateway to the Hebrides and home of Scotland’s famous whisky distillery, and prepare for a voyage where the further west you go, the wilder it gets. Leaving the shelter of the Inner Hebrides, you’ll cross into the Outer Hebrides – a chain of remote islands where Gaelic culture meets raw Atlantic beauty.
Each day is guided by the ever-changing weather of the Western Isles, making this the perfect journey to sharpen your seamanship. Learn how to reef and trim sails with expert coaching, while gaining confidence in true open-water conditions.
At the helm is David “Wavy” Immelman – professional racing skipper, and highly respected RYA instructor with over 500,000 ocean miles and 40 Atlantic crossings. His passion for teaching and wealth of experience ensure you’ll learn from the very best.
Aboard the spacious 52ft yacht Big Blue, comfort meets adventure, with en-suite cabins and warm hospitality at the end of each exhilarating day. This is elemental sailing at Europe’s wild edge – a journey to the last frontier.
With only 6 guests per voyage everyone has their own berth (the boat sleeps up to 10) and you’ll get all-star personalised service with 1-2-1 calls before departure to ensure the voyage plan is well suited to all crew needs so everyone gets the most out of it.

Itinerary
This sailing adventure begins in Oban and concludes in Stornoway, at the heart of the Outer Hebrides. Along the way, you’ll leave behind the sheltered waters of the Inner Hebrides and venture west into wilder seas where the Atlantic swell shapes the journey. With weather conditions guiding the plan each day, no two voyages are alike—some filled with energetic sailing, others softened by quiet anchorages that feel like the edge of the world. It’s an itinerary led by nature, offering both challenge and calm in equal measure.

Accommodation
Big Blue is a Beneteau Oceanis 523. Spacious, comfortable and well equipped she is a powerful but easily handled yacht.
In Big Blue we cover the ground quickly which leaves more time for exploring ashore or sailing further. `Big Blue` is very well equipped for offshore sailing and carries a paddle board and inflatable kayak for exploring the anchorages you will visit.
We have 4 sleeping cabins, one is for the Skipper and the others consist of 1 large double and 2 smaller double cabins. All three can be converted into twin cabins – the bunks can be divided by lee cloths if preferred.
All cabins are en-suite. Bedding is provided. On board comfort is a priority – the layout offers privacy and there are heating outlets in all cabins.
Meals
This voyage is designed for you to take an active role – that means everyone will take turns in cooking (all the menus are planned already and step by step instructions given, so you don’t need to be a masterchef!)
Who is this trip for?
You do not need any previous sailing experience for this trip – it is a ‘hands-on’ sailing trip under the expert guidance of a very experienced Skipper who will adapt to your wishes.
