On this action-packed tour you’ll take in the best of Cuba from a variety of perspectives. Discover bustling Havana on bike before kicking back to view the city in style from the backseat of a classic American car. Fly through the stunning Sierra del Rosario mountain range on a zip line before exploring Cuba’s rich underwater world snorkelling off Playa Jibacoa. Near folkloric Matanzas plunge underground into a network of ancient caves, lunch at an organic farm and then visit Che Guevara’s mausoleum in Santa Clara.
Your adventure continues in historic Trinidad where you’ll hike through the luscious Sierra del Escambray by day and learn to move your hips with a local salsa teacher by night. Stay in a local casa particular and get to know everyone’s favourite part of Cuba – the people! Visit a rural community and kayak across the magical bay of Cienfuegos before returning to Havana.
Day 1: Arrival in Havana
Welcome to Cuba! You will be met at Havana airport and transferred to your start hotel. Relax and enjoy your first night in this fascinating city.
Day 2: Havana by bike and Classic Car
Today start with a 24 km bike tour of Havana. Cycle through the well-to-do Miramar district, the Metropolitan Park and Plaza de la Revolucion. Continue past the mansions built by sugar barons in the early 20th century and down into the heart of the old town past the famous Hotel Nacional and the Capitolio. After lunch in a typical Cuban restaurant, enjoy a free afternoon in Old Havana. In the early evening have the quintessential Havana experience of touring ‘new’ Havana in 1950’s classic American cars. Night in Hotel.
Day 3: To Las Terrazas and Playa JIbacoa
This morning cycle 48 km to Las Terrazas community located in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the Sierra de Rosario. Enjoy a traditional lunch in a community-run restaurant. Afterwards you could try the famous zip line affording an adrenaline-fuelled panoramic view of this lush landscape. Afternoon transfer to Playa Jibacoa, a Cuban beach getaway. Night in hotel.
Day 4: Snorkelling; Caving; to Santa Clara
Snorkel and relax on Jibacoa beach before visiting a cave network near Matanzas. Lunch at an organic farm that has a ceramic workshop before travelling east to the city of Santa Clara. This city is best-known as the scene of a decisive victory by the Cuban Revolutionary forces against the dictator Batista. Visit Che Guevara's impressive mausoleum, a museum about his life and the Tren Blindado memorial park. Night in a hotel.
Day 5: Trekking; to Trinidad
This morning transfer to Topes de Collantes in the stunning Escambray mountain range, where you will trek and swim at a spectacular waterfall. After lunch at an eco-restaurant transfer to Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the jewel in Cuba's patrimonial crown. In the late afternoon enjoy a salsa class with a local teacher and after dinner sample Trinidad’s lively nightlife and try out your new moves! Night in a casa particular.
Day 6: Playa Ancon; to Cienfuegos
This morning take a walking tour of Trinidad before driving the short distance to nearby Playa Ancon beach. After lunch visit La Vega community to gain an insight in to typical Cuban services such as the medical facility, school, and food ration store. Then continue to Cienfuegos, also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Night in a casa particular.
Day 7: Kayaking in Cienfuegos; to Havana
This morning you will kayak in the bay of Cienfuegos, visiting the narrow mouth of the harbour and the imposing Castillo de Jagua. After lunch return to Havana, where you can enjoy the evening at leisure. Night in a casa particular.
Day 8: Walking tour in Havana; End
This morning enjoy a walking tour of Old Havana, the finest surviving Spanish colonial city in the Americas. The many marvellous monuments, cathedrals and palaces of the city’s historical centre are brought to life by a constant hustle and bustle and the unmistakable sound of Cuban son. In the afternoon transfer to Havana airport (30-40 minutes).

You will get the authentic experience of staying in casas particulares in Cienfuegos, Trinidad and Havana. In other locations you will stay in mid-range hotels. All rooms are en suite. Accommodation and service in Cuba can often be more basic than in many other countries.
Meals: All Breakfasts, 6 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Cuba is the land of the mojito, daiquiri, Cuba libre, and of course rum! You’ll find that plenty of good drinks are on offer all over the country with prices ranging from 2-6 CUC for most cocktails. Food isn’t particularly varied in Cuba – expect grilled meats/fish, rice, beans, platano, mangos and tropical fruits. Not a lot of green vegetables though. During this itinerary you’ll visit at least one organic farm offering delicious home-cooked food.

• The cycling routes follow roads that are predominantly paved, with small unpaved sections and some pot-holes. Traffic is generally very light.
