A chance to join a crew of 10 to embark on a sail adventure mainland to mainland transatlantic from Lorient in France to New York City, USA.
In May 2026, an ocean adventure awaits passionate sailors. Aboard a Challenge 67, a 21-meter crewed monohull, you’ll cross the Atlantic and actively participate in a true journey of a lifetime.
Departing Lorient in Southern Brittany, the destination is New York, promising a voyage filled with challenge and reward. The route first heads to Horta in the Azores, a 1,200nm leg of 6–7 days, before tackling the 2,050nm crossing to New York, around 15 days at sea. Stopover duration depends on weather, with the skipper making strategic calls for a safe passage.
On board, ten guest crew join two professional sailors. Everyone stands watches (around 8 hours daily), cooks, cleans, and faces the elements. This is no cruise—it’s hands-on ocean sailing demanding both resilience and teamwork.
The Challenge 67s were built for the BT Global Challenge and carry no autopilot or furlers, offering an authentic sailing experience. Safety comes first, with communication limited to essentials; Iridium phones are reserved for emergencies.
Practicalities include a French sailing license (arranged with the operator) and US visa requirements.
