Embark as a teammate racing on the RORC Transatlantic Race.
Calling adventurous sailors for legendary RORC Transatlantic Race from Lanzarote to Grenada in January 2025.
The RORC is a “offshore” race of more than 3000 nautical miles (5500 km) and you’ll be at the helm on board a crewed Volvo 60 to enjoy a unique offshore racing experience in the IRC Zero class. The boat was designed and built for the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-02, the crewed round the world race. Hired under the name of Djuice Dragons, she was skippered by sailing greats Knut Frostad, with Thomas Coville as Watch Leader and Jean-Yves Bernot as Navigator.
This is a unique opportunity to challenge yourself in the fleet and experience extraordinary moments within a crew throughout a training program over 3 days before leaving Lanzarote or while delivering from Lorient in South Brittany.
You will be part of the crew of a Volvo 60, 19.50m racing monohull that is supervised by four professional sailors (skipper Captain 200 Sailing, navigator, number one and tactician). This experience is perfect for competitive spirits and getting involved as a teammate in an event like this, whatever your level of sailing experience, is not trivial. Your teammates are there to win! The boat is an efficient and extreme racing sailboat. It is a demanding and powerful unit, a Formula 1 of the seas with very spartan comfort.

An organization by eminent Royal Ocean Racing Club
Modern IRC boats, multihulls as well as classic yachts are invited to participate in this annual race which each year attracts competitors from all over the world.
The RORC Transatlantic Race is the longest offshore race in the RORC Championship. It was initiated a few years ago to join the famous RORC Caribbean 600 (where we will be present and for which registrations are possible). This allows RORC members and Maxi Yachts owners to race across the Atlantic before entering the racing season in the Caribbean.
Communication on board
The means of communication on board are reserved for the safety of the board. Communications by satellite phone (Iridium) or email are therefore not offered. Before you leave, let your loved ones know that you will not be reachable until after your crossing. Our team only contacts families ashore if there is a problem on board. So no news, good news!
The boat is “tracked” and visible on the race website or on the YB Races smartphone application.
